I hope you enjoyed a restful and fun holiday!
Today, we learned how to print upper and lowercase letter Mm. I sent home a worksheet (letters S,A,T, I,P and N) for the students to work on at home. These letters, we have covered in class and have continued to work on at school. Some students, may need a reminder about these letters and their letter sounds. For Kindergarten students, vowels are developmentally difficult. Therefore, identifying the letter name and not the short vowel sound is age appropriate. Usually, short vowel sounds, develop in grade one. During your reading time at home, it's a great idea to review the letters that we have learned and continue to learn at school. If any of these letters or the letters we have covered to date, are in your child's first name, I encourage your child to use the lowercase letters.
i.e.: Sam or CLaire
Letters covered to date: S,A,T, I, P, C, K, E, H, R, M
