January, 30 - Hoops, Report Cards, and 100th Day

Hoop Dancing is turning out to be a wonderful experience for everyone! We are looking forward to tomorrow's Kindergarten, Hoop Dancing 'Performance' at 10:45 AM. Our performance will be in the school gym.
Tomorrow, your child's report card will be sent home. Your child's 'log-in' information for the CBE and Mathletics will be attached to your child's report card. We have practiced with our buddies, logging onto the desktops. To date, we have used  the programs,  'Starfall' and 'Mathletics'.
You are more than welcome to practice your child's math and literacy at home.
As for report cards, I am so very proud of every student's growth in their learning. As we don't have 'Face to Face' conferences until Match, you are more than welcome to contact me via email about a query or concern. Should you prefer a meeting with me, I would be happy to book an appointment with you.
Erik's grandmother has kindly shared with our Kindergarten families, a sample of her yummy jams, and jellies. Thank-you Backyard Bounty!

Tuesday, February 19 is the 100th Day of Kindergarten. In class we are using our 100 chart to learn and talk about numbers. For our 100th Day of school celebration, please send to school a project made of 100 objects. On the 100th day of school, we will be sharing our 100 Day Projects with the Grade One's to Six's. Your child's project can be made of 100 pieces of Lego, noodles, toothpicks, skittles (candy) or anything else that you would like to use. There are many excellent ideas on the web and Pinterest is a great place to start. Please ensure that you label your child's project with their name. Enjoy and have fun together!

Friday, January 25 - Upcoming Hoop Dancing

Next week, we will have our Hoop Dancing residency with Teddy Anderson. On Monday, we will have a quick meeting and go to the gym for Teddy's, Hoop Dancing performance. Parents are welcome to attend his Performance.
Monday, January 28
Performance - 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM
Hoop making for Kindergarten: 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM
On Tuesday and Wednesday we will spend our gym time learning how to Hoop Dance.
Thursday, January 31 - 10:45 AM to 11:00 AM Kindergarten Hoop Dancing Performance
You are welcome to attend our 'Performance'.

Early next week, the Kindergarten Home Reading will be sent home. For some strategies for your Home reading, please read the letter enclosed in your child's Home Reading, Zip Lock Bag. On the recording sheet, we would appreciate it if you would keep a tally of how many times that you read each book. You are welcome to leave a comment. Please keep your Home Reading Books at home for at least 3 to 4 days, and try some of my reading suggestions or your own reading strategies.

On Wednesday, February 13, there will be a Valentine's Day (Friendship Day) celebration in our classroom. Along with the distribution of their Valentines Day Cards, we will have some fun activities, and a special snack. Children are invited to print their names on 20 Valentine's Day Cards and bring them to school on February 13. Please do not address cards or envelopes to individual children. Please send  to school only one snack and their water bottle with your child. I will be providing the snack/treat for our celebration. Valentine's Day is always a lot of fun!

Our 100th day of Kindergarten is on Tuesday, February 19. More details about your child's project will follow shortly.
