Next week, I would like to start some 'Spring Art'. If you are available to volunteer please sign up on Monday, March 7, Wednesday March 9 or Friday March 11.
Over the next 2 weeks, I am planning on checking your child's Home Reading Levels. Your patience would be appreciated while I take the time to read with your son or daughter.

Thursday, Feb. 26th

• I am so happy to be back in the classroom and feeling better again!
• Tomorrow, we are having an Arborist join our class. He will talk to us about how he takes care of trees. We have a list of questions to ask him as well. Some of our questions are rather cute! 
• Fun Lunch forms are due today. If you have not handed your child's Fun Lunch order in yet, please do so tomorrow morning.  Tomorrow, I will try to catch our Fun Lunch coordinator with your forms.
• We are planning on learning our home or parent's cell numbers. We will work on your child's home phone number that is on file at school. If you would prefer that your child learns a different number, such as their mom or dad's cell number, then please email me this information.

Monday, February 22

Tomorrow is our 100th Day of Kindergarten Celebration! Don't forget to bring in your projects to share with your buddies from the Portable and Room 4. We will display our projects on the wall outside the classroom and in the display case, across from our coat hooks. Once we have them on display, you are welcome to drop in to see our projects. If anyone has half an hour to spare to come in and assist us with displaying our projects we would love to see you!
As you may have noticed I'm away recovering from a respiratory infection. I'm under my doctor's care and getting plenty of rest. I'm looking forward to being healthy and back in the classroom soon.

Just a quick reminder about our upcoming 100th Day Project and our Letter of the Week

• On Tuesday, February 23, we will be celebrating the 100^th day of Kindergarten for the 2015-2016 school year. Kindergarten children are invited to bring in “A Creation” that involves using 100 items (beans, toothpicks, stickers, buttons, pennies, beads noodles, Lego etc.).  This family project could involve making a pattern with colored buttons glued onto paper, creating a picture with noodles or building a structure with toothpicks and marshmallows or Lego. If you have a collection of 100 special things that would be a great sharing idea as well!  Please note that we will be sharing our projects in the Learning Commons with our buddies. Use your imagination and have fun!

Tuesday, February 9

We are really enjoying our gymnastics unit. Today, we had some grade 5/6 helpers from Mrs. Saunder's class. They were very impressed with our jumping, landings and how we climbed on the apparatus.
Tomorrow, please remember to send 20 signed Valentine's Day cards to school. After we have delivered our cards to our classmates we have some fun party activities planned. We are looking for 2 parent volunteers to help us with our centers. Please sign up to volunteer on our volunteer calendar or email Cassie or Mrs. Wilkens if you are available to assist us.

Friday, February 5

Today for FAF we enjoyed our last session with our storyteller, Mrs. Gummo. She told us the story about the Sly Fox.
On Monday, February 8 we are celebrating Chinese New Year. We will be learning about the 'Year of the Monkey'. Everyone is welcome to wear red, gold or something that they may already have to celebrate the New Year.

Wednesday, February 3

Today, we enjoyed a great lesson about pulses from our LGT coordinator. We learned all about what pulses are and why they are such an important source of protein. Tomorrow we will work on finishing our drawing and labeling of 'Plants that grow food'.

• We walked for 25 minutes today for our 'Winter Walk'
• This week, our library time is rescheduled for Friday, Feb. 5
• Please remember to send your child with appropriate clothing for our FAF adventures. Some students are coming to school without snow pants, hats and mittens.
