Friday, January 15

We observed the secrets and treasures that Whispering Woods shared with us. We heard and saw a bird. There were a lot of rabbit tracks, vole snow tunnels, berries, dried up leaves and seed pods. Afterwards, we drew a picture of what we found so that we can share our findings with Mrs. Gummo.
Next Wednesday,  we will spend some more time with Mrs. Gummo.

What  A Busy Day!

  1. We practiced our letter Dd's in our letter booklets.
  2. Checked our Red Wiggler Worms to see if they ate any of the food that we gave them, Sure enough the vegetables were gone but there was some moldy bread that they were still eating. In our LGT journals,  we sketched and labeled our worm box.
  3. With the assistance of our parent volunteer, we planted some cucumbers, tomatoes, basil and peppers. Our seed pucks are right under the grow light, so hopefully we will see some seedlings sprouting soon!
  4. We finished our FAF survey with our buddies and had some time to work on Mathletics.
This week, Mrs. Gummo told us a wonderful story about what we can find in Whispering Woods. We are hoping to find some of the 'things' she talked about in her story. So tomorrow we are going outside to Whispering Woods to see what secrets and treasures we can find to draw and talk about.
Please remember to dress for the weather!

Monday, January 11

This Tuesday (10:00 - 10:45 AM) and Wednesday (8:45 - 9:30 AM ) Kindergarten will have their first sessions with our Writer in Residence Karen Gummo. We will be doing some detective work in Whispering Woods. We will  dream about yesterday, today and tomorrow when we look at the woods. Our focus will be to engage in stories that we can tell and retell and to draw an image to remember our stories.
Tomorrow is treat day so please remember to send 25 cents to school.
Starting next week, our music classes will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays instead of Mondays and Wednesdays. I'm looking into rescheduling our Library time.

Please return your Fun Lunch orders in either a envelope or Zip Lock bag labelled with your child's name. This assists us with keeping track of everyone's orders.
For Mathletics, please complete all of the Kindergarten strands before you move on to grade one.
Enjoy the weekend!

Wednesday, January 6

Today we practiced sounding out and printing three letter words. We used mini white boards to sound out words such as: cat, rat, bat, sat, mat and many more. It would be very helpful if you could practice making more three letter words at home.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! I would like to wish everyone a prosperous and healthy 2016!

Today we had library and Mrs. Kidd would appreciate it if you could search for a few missing books. Tomorrow, a note will be sent home listing your child's overdue books. No note means no overdue books! Sometimes, missing books suddenly appear so just let Mrs. Kidd know if you have any questions or need some time to locate them.
