Tuesday, March 20 - First Day of Spring

Spring is Here!

This week's letter is 'Jj', which is a tricky letter for Kinders. What sound does the letter 'J' make?
Can you recognize this letter and it's sound in your home reading books?

Thursday, March 15 - Despite Winter/Spring Planting!

Tomorrow, we are hoping to go outside. However, this is dependant on the weather and how much ice is on the ground. Today we watched a youtube video about snow. Our question was, 'Why is snow white?' First we shared some of our answers to our question. Then we watched the video and discussed what we had learned. Perhaps your Kinder can tell you what we learned🙋

Little Green Thumbs Garden (L.G.T.).
We transplanted our seedlings into our big planter containers and into larger pots. As I prepared the large container with soil, dolomite, and fertilizer, everyone watched and discussed what we were doing and why. Also, we talked about what the seedlings need to grow and their roots.

Tuesday, March 13

For our letter of the week booklets, we are learning to print a sentence.
I like (word from letter of the week).  To practice our new learning, please read your booklets with your child.
For our Zoo field trip, it would be helpful to have some dad's join us.  Please let me know via email if you are able to volunteer. We can take more than 6 volunteers, however the first 5 volunteers will be joining us for the Gossamers and Wings workshop. This would give some of our other volunteers time for a coffee break or to check out the zoo. After our workshop, you could meet us for lunch.

Monday, March 5- Field Trip Tomorrow

Tomorrow, is our  Music Field Trip to the Bella Concert Hall, at Mt. Royal University. We are looking forward to The Canadian Armed Forces Band's concert.
Today, a piece of very important paperwork (that was missing from the original package) was either filled out at school and for some parents please check your child's backpack for it. This paperwork is vital for your child to have permission to attend the field trip!
On the field trip, backpacks will not be taken with us. Please ensure that you pack an item labelled with your child's name, for  snack that is easy to open and eat. We will place these snack items in my backpack for distribution at the university. I will bring extra snack items. Snow pants will also be left at school. Pick-up time at school will be at approximately 12:15 P.M.
Upon arrival at school, students will remove their snow pants, have a bathroom break and be placed in their volunteer groups. Attendance will also be taken and we will board the bus.
Thank-you volunteer parents for joining us on our field trip. To date, for seating at the concert we have decided to keep each class together. There is assigned seating that the concert staff, will direct us to.
For students that have ordered sweatshirts and/or tee shirts, I have them in the classroom. Tomorrow, you are welcome to pick them up.

Thursday, March 1

Hi there! For our field trip next week, we now have enough volunteers.
Tomorrow, we are going outside to look for evidence of voles and mice in Whispering Woods.
If we are quiet and lucky, we are hoping to spot some birds.
For our Whispering Woods (and general area) multimedia project, we are adding our animals, labels and some 3D snow. Hopefully, next week, we will have our projects ready for you to come in and see.
Letter F is on Monday - please check my previous blogs for who is sharing.
Thanks!!!!
