"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you'll go." — Dr. Seuss

Today, Mrs. Metz our school nurse taught us how and why we need to wash our hands. We learned the correct way to wash our hands by using magic cream that shows us what germs look like on our hands. Then we washed our hands the correct way to find out if we could wash all the germs off of our hands. We still need to practice washing our hands, but we are getting better at washing and drying the germs off of our hands!

Please return your library books tomorrow. We have many students who have not returned their library books. If you have misplaced your books or you would like to make other arrangements, please contact Mrs. Kidd our librarian.

Thursday, March 11

Today, we enjoyed a very busy and creative morning with Rachel from 'Clay for Kids'! Our volunteers were amazing! Thank you so much!
Tomorrow is FAF, please dress for the weather. We have two guest teachers tomorrow. Mrs. S will continue with our Trembling Aspen art project. Mrs. Lysik will be subbing for me so that I can have some time to enter the data for our e - EDI survey.
I still have a few more students that I would like to read with. You will have new Home Reading Books for the weekend.
If you can spare the time, we continue to need volunteers to support us with our Spring Chick art and literacy activities.

Tuesday, March 8

We have a 'Clay for Kids' class this Thursday, March 10 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
Please do not send your child wearing their favorite clothes. Despite taking precautions, we often end up with clay on our clothes. It's going to fun and hard work, but the learning curve and the end product is always so well done!
Thank you for volunteering!

Thursday, March 3

Today, we enjoyed a great morning together! We generated some questions and wonderings about what we wanted to learn about plants and trees.

1)How do plants and trees grow food?
ie.: Apples, raspberries, mangoes, coconuts, peaches
2)How do trees and plants get their food to grow?

Every morning we are practicing making a sentence. We are working on some Early Learning sight words as well as sounding out words that we would like to use in our sentence.
Sight Words: mom, dad, with, my, go, to, come, playing, went, we, he, she, like, can, yes, no, dog

For our FAF tomorrow, we are going outside to explore and learn bark. This is a follow - up lesson from our Arborist's visit last week. We have some grade5/6 buddies joining  us. So please dress for the weather! Its getting muddy outside so please ensure that your child wears footwear that can get muddy and wet! Hats and gloves are still needed for our trips to Whispering Woods.
